The firm's Community Involvement Committee organized the Second Annual KSN Food Drive to benefit the Vernon Township Food Pantry. The Pantry collects dry goods and canned foods to benefit approximately 200 families in the Lake County portion of Buffalo Grove and surrounding area. The food drive ran from March 15 to March 31, 2010. Firm employees donated over 150 items and the firm added $5 per item for the first 100 items.

Sternberg were named by Illinois Super Lawyers magazine as being among the top attorneys in Illinois for 2010. Only five percent of the lawyers in the state are named by Super Lawyers.

Jordan I. Shifrin has been engaged to write another chapter for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education, for its soon to be published handbook on not-for-profit-corporations. This will be Mr. Shifrin’s fourth chapter for IICLE. He has already written chapters on condominium and homeowners association law for IICLE’s Condominium Law, Real Estate Transactions, and Real Estate Litigation handbooks.

For the fourth year in a row, Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit and its employees have given holiday gifts to those in need. In 2009 we provided gifts for approximately 60 residents of WINGS, a shelter for battered women and children.

As part of the firm's community involvement, on July 30 we participated in Race Judicata, a 5K Run/Walk benefiting Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation. CVLS provides free legal representation to struggling families in Chicago dealing with common civil issues such as foreclosure, bankruptcy or adoption.
