Ms. Rimas joined the firm in 2007 and practices in the litigation department. She concentrates her practice on litigation as it relates to condominium, townhome and community associations.
While in law school, Ms. Rimas interned with a civil litigation firm in San Diego, California; was certified as a mediator and performed mediations for the Small Claims Court Division in San Diego County; and clerked with the City Attorney of San Diego, prosecuting misdemeanors. Additionally, Ms. Rimas championed the rights of animals as a founding member of the Animal Legal Defense Fund at the University of San Diego. While in California, Ms. Rimas also clerked for the District Attorney of Ventura County, California, prosecuting felony drug and gang cases. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Rimas handled residential and commercial closings, zoning, and land-use matters, and forming condominium associations.
Outside the office, Ms. Rimas is heavily involved in philanthropy. She regularly participates in fundraising and events for the Special Olympics, JDRF, the ASPCA and PAWS, Susan G. Komen Foundation, the American Lung Association, WTTW and PBS, Cubs Care and Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. Growing up as a Lithuanian in Chicago, Ms. Rimas is an active member of the Lithuanian community. Ms. Rimas has studied the culture of many countries and is familiar with numerous languages, including Lithuanian, Spanish, French, Italian, Hebrew and German.
