Michael Norton joined the law firm of Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit as an associate in 2022. Michael represents condominium, homeowner, and townhome community associations in court, litigating a broad range of issues for his clients including allegations of breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, and building code violations.
Michael has four years of prosecutorial experience with the City of Chicago, where he litigated countless civil, criminal, and administrative matters from initial filing through trial and appeal. Upon leaving the City of Chicago, Michael managed his own firm where he focused on criminal, landlord-tenant, tort and business litigation. He gained special experience with technology development contracts while he was simultaneously developing legal software and litigating technology development contract disputes for clients.
Michael is a proud affiliate of the Chicago Bar Foundation’s Justice Entrepreneur Program, which focuses on developing socially conscious law firms with a mission of increasing access to justice.
Michael earned his undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and his law degree from DePaul University College of Law.
